MOVIE REVUE – Managing a 2nd Hangover

By now, most reviews of this film have gone so far in trashing this sequel as being a complete carbon copy of the original, lacking its predecessor’s innovation. I wasn’t ultra-keen on the first one like everybody and their mother was two years ago, but I didn’t hate it. It just wasn’t the second coming of all-time comedies. Then again, comedy is a tough genre to pull off walking the fine line between generating laughs and keeping the story from derailing.

MOVIE REVUE: Unfortunately, A Painful Hangover This Time

In his follow-up effort to the highest grossing R-rated comedy in American history, director Todd Phillips proves that it is somehow possible to be lazy and overzealous at the same time. The Hangover, which grossed over $467 million worldwide in 2009, succeeded almost as much on a critical level as it did at the box office, claiming its place as one of the decades funniest films. Phillips also co-wrote this time, along with Craig Mazin and Scot Armstrong.
