Paramount’s Star Trek Into Darkness will open at the Airbus IMAX Theater at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va., May 15 and in IMAX 3-D at the Samuel C. Johnson IMAX Theater at the National Museum of Natural History May 31. Tickets to see the film at the Hazy Center are on sale at www.si.edu/imax. Tickets to see the film at the Johnson IMAX Theater go on sale Friday, May 17, on the same website.

Smithsonian Theaters will launch the giant-screen film, The$Dream$Is$Alive, March 29 at the Airbus IMAX Theater in the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va. A highly regarded IMAX classic originally released in June 1985, The Dream Is Alive is narrated by Walter Cronkite and focuses on NASA’s Shuttle Program. Included in the film is coverage of shuttle mission STS-41-D, the first launch of Discovery, including footage of liftoff and the deployment of two of the three satellites on the mission. Footage is also shown of Discovery’s landing and cross-country transport from its landing site at Edwards Air Force Base in California to Kennedy Space Center in Florida on the back of the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft.

Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema’s epic adventure film Jack the Giant Slayer will open at the Airbus IMAX Theater at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va., March 1 and in IMAX 3-D at the Samuel C. Johnson IMAX Theater at the National Museum of Natural History March 15. Tickets are on sale at http://www.si.edu/imax.

SKYFALL Launches at Smithsonian’s Airbus IMAX Theater Nov. 8 The long-awaited next chapter in the famed James Bond franchise, SKYFALL, will open at National Air and Space Museum’s Airbus IMAX Theater at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va., Nov. 8, one day ahead of its nationwide release Nov. 9. Featuring Daniel Craig as writer Ian Fleming’s iconic Agent 007, this will be the first IMAX installment of the venerable James Bond franchise.

Smithsonian Theaters presents John Carter at the National Air and Space Museum’s Airbus IMAX Theater at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Va., March 9. The film will open with a 12:01 a.m. screening March 9. Attendees of the special midnight showing will receive a limited-edition commemorative poster from the film.
