AWARD SEASON NEWS: 2011 Golden Globes Nominees

This morning, the 68th Annual Golden Globe Nominees were announced! Among the heavy hitters this year were, by no surprise, The Social Network, The King’s Speech and The Fighter. While this year’s nominees seemed decent, there are a few questionables in the crowd. For example, why did The Tourist get three nominations for doing such an average job of capturing the audience and the remake of True Grit which had such amazing talent from Jeff Bridges and newcomer Hailee Steinfeld got shutout completely. In addition, one categories of nominees doesn’t fit with the category at all. I hope that I am not the only one who notice this mess. Nonetheless, the Golden Globes have predicted 18 of the 20 Oscar nods last year. It’s time to gather ’round the families for a holiday treat of my DVD revue. This time, former night watchman Larry Daley is going back to the museum. This time, he heads to the mother of all museums: the Smithsonian in my hometown of Washington, DC. His mission is to save his friends from the ruler Kahmunrah. The cast of Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian

In 2006, moviegoers around the world followed a newly recruited night security guard as he experience the American Museum of Natural History in NYC for just one night. He discovers an ancient curse that causes the museum’s exhibits to come to life and giving the guard a night he’ll never forget. Based on a 1993 children’s book by Milan Trenc, Night at the Museum raked in over $250 million at the box office and increased the visitors of the Museum of Natural History by nearly 20%.
