MOVIE REVUE: Rio Reaches for Great Heights

Rio is a surprising treat of a movie by Blue Sky Studios, the makers of Ice Age, who are often overshadowed by animation giants such as Pixar and Dreamworks. If there was one movie where the city not only becomes the backdrop but its own character, it would have to be the new movie by Ice Age director Carlos Saldanha –Rio. Rio takes us on a journey of a young blue macaw named Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) as he goes from his pampered life of small town Minnesota to the wild summer fun of party city in Brazil.Riois a breath of fresh air! I Love You Phillip Morris

The first words that appear on screen in this movie state that this movie is a true story. Really, it’s a true story. Don’t forget those little words as you watch this preposterous film because the things you’re going to see on screen will truly make you believe this is a work of fiction, and not non-fiction. It’s all over the place, overtly gay, and will take you on a truly wild ride that will make you laugh, cringe, and drop your jaw to the floor.
