MOVIE REVUE: The Descendants, A Welcome Return for Director Alexander Payne
November 18, 2011Alexander Payne has an affinity for bringing complex literary characters to life in situations of conflict, compromise and absurdity. This was best exemplified in 2004′s Sideways, a snarky little gem that effectively walked the line between comedy and tragedy. His first film in seven years, The Descendants reflects Payne’s clever, if slightly awkward perspective on life, crafting an inspiring and comical story around a rather grim premise.
MOVIE REVUE: Et Tu, Gosling
October 7, 2011As we see the adaptation of Beau Willimon’s 2008 play Farragut North unfold before our eyes, The Ides of March takes us on a fast-paced journey of a major presidential primary in the great state of Ohio. This film is a test of one’s loyalties in the all-too familiar game of American politics.

Good afternoon Rogers Revue Fans!
It’s time for me to go into the depths of another DVD you should check out! This time, I am reviewing a tale that reflects the current state of the US today. That is the case of Ryan Bingham who dedicates his career traveling the country letting people go but at the same time giving them the escape they needed to pursue a new chapter in life. At the same time, he has no friends, no family, and no social life. Along the way, a sexy traveler and a new protégé will change all that while his career is always “Up in the Air”
TRR EXCLUSIVE: The 2009 WAFCA Award Winners
December 7, 2009Good morning everyone:
One of the things that has changed my life this year was the moment I became the 48th member of the Washington DC Area Film Critics Association. The Washington, DC Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) was founded in 2002 and is comprised of DC-based film critics from television, radio, print and the internet. As of right now, they have 48 members. Notable critics and my fellow friends in WAFCA include “BDK” of WJFK 106.7 FM, Nell “The Movie Mom” Minow, and Arch Campbell – Legendary Film Critic of WJLA ABC 7. I am truly blessed to be part of an elite group. I mean can you imagine sharing your love of movies with the people whose sole job is to inform you if the movie is good or not. I was honored that the members of WAFCA welcomed me with open arms to their organization.
MOVIE REVUE: A Good Situation thats Up in the Air
December 4, 2009
One day you will meet Ryan Bingham (George Clooney) in your office. You never sat next to him in a cubicle. Nor have you shared the latest gossip with him over your coffee break. You did not even invite him to happy hour for drinks. However, he does play an important part of your job. He is the person your boss hired to inform that you have been terminated. He is a downsizing expert from Omaha whose job is to offer options to recently laid-off employees. Bingham might be the man you cry over, be mad at, or loathe, but he might end up being the one who has set you free to change your life forever. Ryan’s job has its perks. He can easily get through the check-in lines at the airports in no-time. The airline employees know his name by heart. He always travels first class as he is close to his ultimate goal of ten million miles saved for one airline.
