Norah Jones to Perform Nominated Song from “Ted” Live on Oscar Telecast

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Norah Jones will perform “Everybody Needs a Best Friend” from the motion picture “Ted,” telecast producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced. “Everybody Needs a Best Friend,” with music by Walter Murphy and lyrics by Seth MacFarlane, is nominated for an Original Song Oscar.  This will be Jones’s first time performing on an Oscar show.

Oscar Experience to be Seen in 45 Cities Across the U.S.

The Oscar Experience: Benefits is the Academy’s grassroots outreach program that allows charities across the country to host official Oscar parties while raising money for their causes.

Seth MacFarlane will host the 85th Academy Awards, telecast producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced today. This will be MacFarlane’s first appearance on Oscar’s stage. The 85th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on Oscar Sunday, February 24, on the ABC Television Network.

The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has approved additional rules for the 85th Academy Awards. The most significant changes affect the Original Song category, in which there will now be five nominees.

CIM Group closes two major transactions – The Academy Awards to remain in Hollywood

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and CIM Group announced today that the Academy Awards will remain in Hollywood under a new 20-year deal.  Concurrently, in a separate agreement, Dolby Laboratories, Inc. and CIM announced a 20-year agreement to name the Dolby Theatre — the iconic theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center and home of the Academy Awards since 2002– a showcase of technology innovation.
