Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company announces their second Tweet-Up for the World Premiere of Mr. Burns, a post-electric play on Saturday, May 26th at 5:30pm. Woolly’s inaugural Tweet-Up during the World Premiere of Civilization (all you can eat) sparked much debate in the theatre community, the press, and beyond about the use of technology in the artistic process. Nominations in 26 competitive categories for the American Theatre Wing’s 66th Annual Antoinette Perry “Tony” Awards were announced today by Tony and Emmy winning-actress Kristin Chenoweth and Emmy and Golden Globe winning-actor, Jim Parsons, at the Tony Award Nominations Announcement sponsored by IBM. The nominees were selected by an independent committee of 22 theatre professionals appointed by the Tony Awards Administration Committee. The 2012 Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. (The list of nominations follows.)
Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater Artistic Director Molly Smith announces an exciting addition to the 2012/13 season, Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins, starring the iconic stage and screen actress Kathleen Turner as the feisty, unforgettable political journalist. Written by twin-sister journalists Margaret Engel and Allison Engel and directed by David Esbjornson (Broadway’s The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? and Driving Miss Daisy), the D.C. premiere kicks off Arena Stage’s 2012/13 season playing August 23 through October 28, 2012 in the Arlene and Robert Kogod Cradle.
