Female jazz “lioness” Tia Fuller fronts her jazz outfit The Tia Fuller Quartet and is a member of Beyoncé’s all-female touring band. As part of theI AM…Sasha Fierce and Beyoncé Experience World Tour, Fuller had the unique experience of performing in various venues throughout the U.S., Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. She is a featured soloist on the Beyoncé Experience and I AM Yours DVDs, and has appeared on a number of major television shows, such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, Today Show, Good Morning America and Total Request Live. She has also appeared on the BET Awards, American Music Awards and the 2010 Grammy Awards. Most recently, she performed as the featured soloist with Beyoncé for President Obama at the White House.
An accomplished performer in her own right, Fuller has recorded three albums with her quartet. The first, Pillar of Strength, received praise for being “an exhilarating work that introduced her as a leader who strives for perfection” (All About Jazz magazine). Her latest release, Angelic Warrior, pairs Fuller with jazz greats Dianne Reeves, John Patitucci, Shamie Royston, Mimi Jones and Rudy Royston.
Fuller can also be seen regularly with a number of bands, including the Ralph Peterson Septet, the T.S. Monk Septet, the Jon Faddis Jazz Orchestra, the Rufus Reid Septet, the Sean Jones Quintet, the Nancy Wilson Jazz Orchestra and the Wycliffe Gordan Septet.
