Roger S. Baum, the great-grandson of L. Frank Baum, author of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”, recently joined forces with Tate Publishing to publish the latest book in his Oz series: The Oz Enigma. The book, which will release nationally later this year, will pre-release September 14th at the annual “Wizard of Oz Festival” in Chesterton, Indiana.
Roger S. Baum is a former banker turned children’s book author after he was inspired to follow in his great grandfather’s footsteps in the 1980s. In addition to The Oz Enigma, Baum has published numerous other “Oz” related works, one of which has recently been developed into a feature film.
Dorothy of Oz, based on Baum’s book by the same title, is a computer-animated film being produced by Summertime Entertainment that is slated to release in 2013. Featuring a “rock-star” cast including Martin Short, Patrick Stewart, James Belushi, Kelsey Grammer, Dan Aykroyd, Megan Hilty, Hugh Dancy, Bernadette Peters, and Glee’s Lea Michele, the film has already created significant chatter among “Oz” and film fans alike on social media networks. With a stellar production team including Bonne Radford (E.T., Back to the Future I & II, The Road to El Dorado), the film marks a significant step for bringing “Oz” into the 21st century.
Dorothy of Oz will preview at the Chesterton “Wizard of Oz Festival” (September 14-16) alongside the pre-release of The Oz Enigma. In addition, Roger Baum will be available to sign autographed copies of his latest book. With the pace and excitement of modern children’s adventure stories within the parameters of beloved “Oz”—once called the first true American fairy tale—The Oz Enigma and Dorothy of Oz will draw people all ages into the “wonderful world of Oz.”
Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, The Oz Enigma will be available upon its release (date to be announced) through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting www.barnesandnoble.com or www.amazon.com.
