The inaugural Summer Hummer was a scorcher!
Oh, what a night. A standing room only house A fun-filled naughty, bawdy burlesque show A cavalcade of stars from the Washington stage; and A generous audience, who came with their hearts and pockets open.
Indeed, last night’s first outing to benefit “Taking Care of our Own” was a confluence of forces rarely seen before to support the Washington theatre community: an extraordinary ensemble of 42 artists and more than 300 audience members – all who value and support the contributions of our theatre professionals.
And over $14,000 was raised that will go directly into the “Taking Care of Our Own” coffers.
This program of theatreWashington was created to support Washington area theatre professionals who desperately need emergency aid but for whom help may not be available from any other source.
Our great thanks to Eric Schaeffer, Matt Gardiner, and the amazing staff of Signature Theatre for their tireless work to present the first Summer Hummer and for dedicating 100% of the proceeds to theatreWashington’s “Taking Care of Our Own.”
If you weren’t able to attend last night’s show, please note that donations to “Taking Care of Our Own” are accepted all year long at www.theatrewashington.org.
