Cirque Du Soleil Totem hits DC

 

If you have never been to a Cirque Du Soleil before, our gracious photographer Mark Mahoney has got some pics for you!

Cirque du Soleil returns to Washington with TOTEM, a new big top production. Written and directed by Robert Lepage, TOTEM premiered on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 for a limited engagement under the blue and yellow Big Top located at the Plateau at National Harbor.

About TOTEM  Since its world premiere in Montreal in April 2010, TOTEM as visited more than 12 cities in 4 different countries and has performed in front of more than 1.5 million spectators.  TOTEM traces the fascinating journey of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. The characters evolve on a stage evoking a giant turtle, the symbol of origin for many ancient civilizations.  Inspired by many founding myths, TOTEM illustrates, through a visual and acrobatic language, the evolutionary progress of species. Somewhere between science and legend TOTEM explores the ties that bind Man to other species, his dreams and his infinite potential.

On a personal note: If you have not seen Cirque Du Soleil and you live in the DELMARVA are – you now have one more chance! Dralion is coming in a few days to the 1st Mariner Arena.
