Beloved ’80s Rocker Strips Down His Classic Hits in Acoustic Show
Run to You,” “Heaven” and “Summer of ’69” catapulted Bryan Adams to international rock stardom in the ’80s and have stayed perennial radio staples since—the iconic musician will strip down his most irresistible hits along with new work from his latest album, 11, during an all acoustic show in the Music Center at Strathmore on Monday, January 28, 2012 at 8 p.m. The performance will feature subtle rearrangements in an intimate performance with platinum-selling recording artist Adams backed by only his acoustic guitar and, sometimes, piano—delivered with “the kind of ease with his music, his audience and himself that you can’t teach” (The Palm Beach Post).
Over the last three decades the Grammy-winning recording artist has toured six continents, garnered 21 top 10 hits, earned nominations for three Academy Awards and five Golden Globes, received 18 Juno Awards, an American Music Award and five ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards for Most Performed Song from a Motion Picture (his music has appeared on more than 40 movie soundtracks). He began his solo career with a self titled debut in 1980 and has a total of 11 albums, his most recent being the aptly titled, 11. He breached the public consciousness with his 1984 record, Reckless.
Adams is not only a singer, but also a songwriter, guitarist, bassist, producer, actor, photographer and philanthropist. The Bryan Adams Foundation cultivates and sustains continual education and learning opportunities for children. He has also lent his voice and support to numerous other charitable organizations, including His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales Prince’s Trust, Live Aid, Live 8, The Concert for Freedom for Nelson Mandela, Greenpeace, Amnesty International and Net Aid, among others.
